MV uses Javascript, instead of the form of Ruby that earlier versions used. If you are skilled at eventing, there are many amazing things you can do, but that requirement presents a learning curve that not everyone wants to go through. You cannot use scripts, so everything is done by eventing. People with Ace (like me, for example) still bought VX so as to have legal access to the huge amount of graphical resources that people made for it.ΔΆ000 is a very early version, with different graphics, which many people like for a true retro feel, and a different mapping system. For example, by default (this can be changed by scripts) in VX you can only have 5 tile sheets. VX Ace is an updated and improved version of VX. A full list of differences would require a huge post, and many of them would, probably, be of marginal significance to you, imo. This is a simplified account of the differences.
